Tweeting Bike, Tweeting Dog. Now We’ve Seen Everything.

Here’s a couple of fun Twitter-related links for you.

The first is the of a tweeting bike as seen on Miss Cakehead’s blog.

This one-of-a-kind bicycle was created by Pete Fowler (@themonsterist) for UK’s East Festival. It has been outfitted with “a mobile which is programmed to tweet out messages when it comes within range of key areas of the festival,” and the bike’s path can been seen via Google Maps as it travels through East London from March 4th through March 11th.

The bike is a an amazing synthesis of the virtual world and the real world.

What’s next, a tweeting dog?

Oh, yes, here it is!

Puppy Tweets is a product that will be made available through Amazon.

The product description states:

…Ever wonder what your pup is doing while you’re away?

Well, now you can get the 411 with text messages from Puppy Tweets! Whenever your dog moves, barks (or just naps), the tag knows it and sends a WiFi signal to your computer which then sends you a Tweet via Twitter.

Simply set up a Twitter page for your dog and your Puppy Tweets tag starts generating Tweets.

Puppy Tweets comes pre-loaded with over 500 phrases that put a humorous or insightful spin on your dog’s daily activity.

If I didn’t spend so much time with my dog already, I’d probably purchase one for the heck of it.

I admire these two products because they show how creative people are getting with social media.

You know what would be even more of a mashup? Someone riding the tweeting bike with a tweeting dog running along beside it.

Or how about Fish Tweets? A Twitter account for our atmospherically-challenged buddies?

I can imagine the tweets would look something like this:

goldfish swims

goldfish sucks up something gross and spits it back out

goldfish swims

goldfish is at the bottom of the tank and looks like it’s going to die, but it’s actually ok

goldfish swims

(Repeated x 5 years or accidental flushing by small child, whichever comes first.)
