I made some bank deposits earlier today.
On my way out, I noticed a basket of lollipops sitting by the door. I walked over to the basket and grabbed a sucker, though I felt sheepish to do so.
Whenever I grab free candy in public, I always expect someone to reach over and say, quietly: “That’s for the children.”
Thankfully this has never happened, but I suspect that it will one day.
2)
I was doing the laundry and thought that I needed to call the landlord since it wasn’t working. It just made a weird, internal ticking noise.
I fiddled with the knobs for about 5 minutes straight, convinced that I would not have clean, dry clothes for the next day.
Frustrated, I gave up and began to walk away, then noticed I had left the dryer door wide open.
I shut it and the dryer started immediately.
3)
I went to Walgreens earlier to pick up some photos.
I knew I didn’t need anything besides the photos. Zero, zip, etc.
Yet I found myself picking up an empty basket at the entrance, glancing at the photo station, then walking in a different direction.
I couldn’t possibly need anything. Except that I really did.
I didn’t know what I needed, just that I’d need it when I saw it… like that really cool stainless steel bottle…and those dog treats that were on sale…
I am so weak.
